As we move into the season when we are abused by freezing air outside, dried-out hot air on the inside, and bombardments of germs from others, I’m going to start a series of oils for the cold and flu season. Take all the normal precautions of staying as warm as possible when leaving the house and using a good natural bacterial combatant such as wild orange or lemon oil on your hands regularly. Get your rest. If you feel a sore throat coming on, though, it’s time to take further action. What has worked well for my family is this:
- Fractionated coconut oil
- 5 drops chamomile oil
- 2 drops oregano oil
- 2 drops lemon oil
- 1 drop melaleuca oil
- 1 drop lavender oil
- 1 drop thyme oil
Put essential oils in a 30 ml. roller top bottle (well washed and steam disinfected), fill with the coconut oil, put the roller top on and the lid, and gently shake to mix. Apply to neck, rolling up and down, from beneath one ear to beneath the other ear every 2 – 3 hours (more often if needed, not more often than every 1/2 hour).
