A Personal Story

by BB Curtis

Earlier this year, I was online doing some collecting on Pinterest when I noticed a trend – a lot of shares with information on blends of oils that featured a particular brand.  Many of the blends were ingestible.  In all my prior reading, no one ever recommended ingesting aromatherapy oils — diffuse them, put on the skin diluted with a carrier oil, put them on a cotton ball and breathe deeply, put a few drops in bathwater, mix them with other ingredients and make lotions, potions, soaps or bath salts, yes.  Put them in your tea, not generally.  Food grade oils could be used for things like making peppermint-flavored candy although aromatherapists would point out that most oils sold in grocery stores have little to no therapeutic value, having been made with synthetic ingredients or being highly diluted.  What you really get is flavored tea and not more along with possible toxins.  Thus, these oils piqued my interest although I was not in the market to purchase more oils at the time.  I decided that the next time I needed to purchase any oils, I’d check them out.

A few weeks later I saw another recipe but this time on Facebook that featured the same oil brand and was also to be taken internally, according to the instructions.  I took a look at the company’s website and was quite impressed with their information on why their oils are such high quality.  I cataloged it in the front of my mind.  Within the week, my daughter invited me to an essential oils class that she was hosting.  She’s my kid.  I didn’t ask for details, got the date and time, and put it in my phone calendar.  I walked in the door at her shop on the night of the class; and, to my happy surprise, the class was being presented by representatives of just the company from whom I had plans to make my next purchase.  I do want to point out that I’m not a big believer in coincidence.  A long time ago, and it has stood the test of time, I read a theory that states that if something is brought to your attention three times, it is something to which you should pay attention.

During the one-on-one, the representative determined that one oil would be very helpful for me – coriander.  I had never purchased coriander oil and decided that this would be my introduction to ingestible oils, something that made perfect sense to me.  A way to treat from inside and out as well as through exchange of gasses within the lungs.  I had been having awful spasms in my lower back, so bad that they could bend me backward and put me down on my knees more often than I care to admit.  I woke up with pain; I spent my day with pain; I went to bed with pain; I learned to sleep through some of the pain.  This started in my late 50’s and wasn’t bound to get better.  I could have surgery with a warning that it could reduce mobility by around 60%.  That sounded worse than the pain to me.  One thing I had started to do about three months before this incident was to use a natural electrolyte balancer made with lemon juice, baking soda, sea salt, and 100% natural maple syrup.  (Please email me at bobbicurtiseo@outlook.com for the recipe.)  It was helping most of the muscle spasms I was experiencing in my arms, legs, and chest, but was not reducing the issue in the small of my back.

Now, I couldn’t wait for the coriander to arrive, and it came within just a couple of days.  The bottle said that it could be ingested at a level of 1 drop to 4 ounces of liquid, and I took some right away.  The next day I did one drop in the morning and one at night, and the same the next day.  On day four after only three days of taking the oil, got up from bed without pain.  I walked across the room to the bathroom without pain.  My back was not crunching backward.  I was walking upright without feeling as though I’d be down on my knees any second.  I was not prepared for this.  I expected to have some sort of relief, but not in three days and certainly not to this degree.  I also realized that I had slept through the night without having been awakened by excruciating pain.

I still don’t know exactly what was wrong.  I still have weakness in my lower back which seems to be improving with time, being able to move more freely, and having more energy.  I can’t say what would happen for anyone else, of course.  However, here’s what I know.  If I stop taking a drop (I now do just one in the morning) of coriander essential oil daily, the pain and spasms return within three to four days.  I know because I tested it.  I’m currently 61 years old and feel better than I have for at least the last four years.  This is not my only experience with oils that has been either a miracle or close to it for me.  It’s just one of the most recent ones.  I use oils on my adult children, my grandchildren, my cats, and my grandpuppy.  Some of my friends have had me make hair oils for them and oils to help them fall asleep and stay asleep.  Some years, holiday gifts have been custom-made bath salts for both friends and family.  I use essential oils for personal care items like toothpaste and deodorant as well as facial cleanser and moisturizer.  I use essential oils for household cleansers.  I use essential oils to help when someone feels sick — it’s usually not me due to the number of oils I use regularly that kill germs and bacteria naturally.

I am thrilled with my new supplier!  Anyone who is familiar with oils will recognize the higher quality of the oils. Please feel free to contact me at bobbicurtiseo@outlook.com if you have questions or would like to purchase oils.
