Much Needed History Lessons

by BB Curtis

Letter dated 10/27/1961 from the President of
Lousiana State University

I was seven (7) years old when this letter was written. Please stop to read it. SOME of us who are not Black do remember the bullshit that Black people have gone through and thought it was bullshit from the first time we saw it or heard about it. The second most prominent issue that is heinous and contemptible is that we are still fighting the same fucking crap 61 years later while there are people in positions that make, interpret, and enforce laws who want to turn the clock back to 1861 and are living as though it has been already. The third most prominent issue is that so many of the people who want to tear up the progress that has been made are working hard to make sure that our children never find out the truth of the hellacious acts dealt to Black people over hundreds of years. If you are not familiar with the history, here’s a good starting point to learn. America’s History of Slavery Began Long Before Jamestown

BTW, if you’re reading this, you’re on the internet. Run a search on your favorite search engine and find a treasure trove of more information. It pays to know the past, the real past. Look for reputable sources, of course.
