MAKE IT STOP

WE HAVE THE POWER!

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m sick and damned tired of “both sides of the aisle” being separated on matters of blood and guts and brain splatter.

Congress: Get your shit together and save lives that are being taken away by idiots showing off their WMDs designed to destroy as many human lives as possible in a short time. Please re-read that amendment you chant. Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” You neglect to integrate the “WELL REGULATED Militia” when you pound the rest of the words. When the issue is slaughtering children, you have not one leg to stand on. Those 8- and 9-year-olds sitting at desks reading, writing, or doing math are not threatening ANYONE. Please, for the love of all that’s holy, do something. Here’s some information on what Australia did in the late 90s that has made huge changes in their death by firearm statistics. https://www.factcheck.org/2017/10/gun-control-australia-updated/.

Here’s the short story on what they did: “Under the 1996 law, Australia banned certain semi-automatic, self-loading rifles and shotguns, and imposed stricter licensing and registration requirements. It also instituted a mandatory buyback program for firearms banned by the 1996 law.” (“Gun Control in Australia, Updated”, FactCheck.org, https://www.factcheck.org. Accessed June 1, 2022.)

Be it known that, “Australia and Oceania School shootings are quite infrequent in Oceania. New Zealand experienced a single school shooting in 1923, and Australia has seen only six since 1991. Moreover, only two of Australia’s shootings resulted in deaths, one at La Trobe University and two at Monash University. Australia’s most recent school shooting occurred at Modbury High School in Adelaide on May 7, 2012. No one was injured. Australia instituted strict gun control laws after a 1996 mass shooting (which was not a school shooting) in which a gunman walked into a cafe in Port Arthur, Tasmania, and murdered 35 people and wounded another 23.”

School Shootings by Country 2022
United States 288
Australia 0

(“School Shootings by Country 2022”, World Population Review, https://worldpopulationreview.com. Accessed 1 June 2022. Bold is mine.)

To be clear and do the math, Australia has had no (zero) school shootings in 10 (ten) years; and, in the one over ten years ago, no one died. The United States – 288 school shootings this year alone, and today is the 1st of June!

Now fix it!

You’ve had more than enough time.
